Christmas: Bishop Bath urges FG to ease economic burn on people.

By Atanga Philip, Adamawa State.

The Bishop, Gongola Diocese of the Lutheran Church of Christ in Nigeria, LCCN, Reverend Doctor Peter Bathelemew has urged the Federal Government to scale up effort at addressing the harsh economic crunch taking toll on the people.

He stated this exclusively to ABC Yola in Guyuk Local Government of Adamawa State on the sideline of this year's global Christmas celebration.

Bishop Bathelemew explained that Nigerians are feeling the pinch of the unwanted economic policy put in place by the government of the day asking leaders to reconsider their stance in that regard to enable people breath with ease.

The clergy, however, admonished Nigerians, particularly Christians, to amidst Christmas merriment, exercise caution and Prudence in their spendings to evade extravaganza.

Regarding Christmas, Peter Bathelemew dismissed the notion, by some scholars, that the celebration does not characterize feasting.

According to him, sharing stuff is one of the boons of the yuletide which fosters love, peace and triggers unity among Christians and adherents of other religions.

He, therefore, encouraged spreading of the love of Christ by Christians through sharing of food and other non food essentials.

Bishop Bathelemew admonished Christian Community worldwide to celebrate the season with decorum and moderation, bearing in mind that the day symbolizes the inception of salvation for mankind.

Also, in his Christmas message, the Kwandi Nunguraya, Kurhaye Dishon Dansanda congratulated Christians for witnessing this year's celebration urging them to eschew abusing the essence of the day.

He sued for tolerance and peaceful coexistence among the people regardless of any form of affiliation.

Dishon Dansanda wished citizens of the state Merry Christmas and prosperous new year in advance.

By The Nigerian Newspointer Editorial Board In the quiet hills and lush forests of Kurmi Local Government Area of Taraba State, an uneasy wind is blowing. Farmers and herders once lived in uneasy but manageable coexistence until land sales, unchecked settlements, and political silence turned simple disputes into ethnic conflagrations. The echoes of those past crises are now knock...
