I am not in any war with my lawmaker, can't disrespect PDP.- Taraba Commissioner.

By Terna Chikpa, Jalingo.

Taraba state Commissioner for cooperative and poverty alleviation, Hon Habu James Philip has refuted the claim by a Taraba base newspaper (Taraba Truth and Fact), that he was in a cool war with the lawmaker representing his constituency, Hon. Veronica Alhassan.

The commissioner while responding to the publication, described it as handiwork of mischief makers, staged to get cheap publicity.

Mr. Philip declared that he would never disrespect the people's Democratic party (PDP), by having issue with any member of the party.

He urged Tarabans to disregard the publication, as he and the assembly member are in good working, politicking and talking teams.

"I am not in any war what so ever with the lawmaker representing my constituency, the Bali (l) state constituency. She is my mother and mentor.

Having any issue with her, to me is as the same as disrespecting the PDP.

"I can never disrespect the PDP. I will never fight with Hon. Veronica. She is my mother. The publication is falsehood and fake portray.

"Those behind the publication are only trying to create chaos where there non.

"It's laughable to hear that I am in a cool war with some one that has been feeding me. Hon. Veronica has been feeding me right before she became a legislature representing my constituency.

"Before now, she made me chairman taskforce on produce in Bali. She also appointed me as (P.A), on special duties. How can I start fighting her now that she is the lawmaker representing my constituency?

"I am a loyal party man. I can not fight committed PDP members like Veronica Alhassan. Fighting her is as good as disrespecting governor Agbu Kefas and the entire PDP.

"I want to state here that the allegation is wrongly placed. The publication is falsehood and a fake portray on us. Hon. Veronica is a committed legislature, she is doing her best for the development of Bali (l) constituency, and I am 100 per cent behind her.

"Those behind the claim should look for another means to get their names popular. I, and Hon. Veronica would never fight for anything. She is my mother". The commissioner debunked.

Kurmi on the Brink: Why Silence Now Could Spell Disaster

By The Nigerian Newspointer Editorial Board In the quiet hills and lush forests of Kurmi Local Government Area of Taraba State, an uneasy wind is blowing. Reports of an unusual influx of Fulani and Hausa migrants fleeing violence in Northern Nigeria have unsettled the peace of this agrarian enclave. Migration in itself is not new—men and women have always moved in search of safety, trade, and survival. But what is happening in Kurmi today bears markers that Nigeria has, sadly, seen before. And if urgent steps are not taken, the consequences could be dire. A Pattern Too Familiar From Plateau to Benue, from Southern Kaduna to Zamfara, Nigeria’s troubled history is littered with stories of migration that started innocently but later spiraled into violent conflicts. Farmers and herders once lived in uneasy but manageable coexistence until land sales, unchecked settlements, and political silence turned simple disputes into ethnic conflagrations. The echoes of those past crises are now knock...
