ECONOMY:Identify the Revenue sources at LG levels for the success of proposed Tax Harmonisation Reforms in Taraba State -Hon Aminu Jauro Hassan.

Chairman Association of Local Governments of Nigeria( ALGON )Taraba State Chapter,Hon Aminu Jauro Hassan says identification of revenue sources at the local government levels will lead to the success of proposed Tax Harmonisation Reforms in the state.


The Chairman who doubled as the Chairman of Jalingo local government Council said this while hosting members of Tax Justice and Governance Platform Taraba State Chapter in his office.

Hon Aminu Hassan explained that the idea of Tax Harmonisation is a welcome development but it should clearly defines revenue sources.

The ALGON also advocated full engagement of local government Council Chairmen and Revenue officers in policy formulation and making process to enable them make contributions that will be acceptable to all.

The Chairman while appreciating the efforts on the harmonisation of taxes,said adequate time should to be considered in coming up with an acceptable policy that can stand the test of time in Taraba State.


Hon Hassan appreciated the leadership of Tax Justice and Governance Platform Taraba State Chapter for deeming it fit to advocate for all stakeholders in Revenue collection fields have a say in the process of law formulation in the state.


He said the Civil Society Organisation,CSO has distinguished itself as a true advocate of good governance and Transparency even as Nigeria Government work out modalities to harmonise Taxes.

He reiterated the preparedness of all the sixteen local government Council Chairmen in the state to give in their inputs that will lead to success of the policy in Taraba State.

Earlier,The State Lead Tax Justice and Governance Platform Taraba State Chapter Comrade Nashuka Fidelis said they were in his office as part of their advocacy engagement harmonisation of taxes in the state.

According to him,the proposed Tax Harmonisation aims to blocking leakeges and ensure all taxes collection are shared for execution of tangible projects to benefit the tax payers in the state.

Comrade Nashuka Fidelis remarked that the CSO had during one of its engagement intimated the Taraba State Internal Revenue Service to ensure all stakeholders in Revenue collection and services are fully engaged in the policy making process.


He however appreciated the willingness of Stakeholders in Revenue sector for always availing themselves to participate in its engagement describing it as a positive step.

INSECURITY:Bissaula Community Leader Raises Alarm Over Renewed Attack, Calls for Lasting Security Deployment.
