LG Autonomy: Union leaders have crucial roles to play in the development at the grassroots level- C-Advisory Chairman Rt Hon Diah.

The Chairman of the Advisory Committee on Local Government Autonomy, Rt Hon Abel Peter Diah, says the new autonomy will have significant implications for the development at the grassroots.

The Chairman, who is a member Representing Mbanmga Constituency at the Taraba State House of Assembly and Chairman of the House Committee on Local Government, Traditions and Chieftaincy Affairs, stated this during an interface with Union leaders and Stakeholders at the Conference Hall of Bureau for Local, Traditions and Chieftaincy in Jalingo.
Rt Hon Diah said the idea of local government Autonomy goes beyond just changing Administrative structures as it represents a significant transformation in how to govern and provide public services.

The Chairman of the Committee said as union leaders, they are serving as a link between the government and the people, safeguarding the rights of workers and advocating for social justice.
He said the Local government should adhere to higher standards of financial management, performance monitoring and public reporting to earn the people's trust through tangible results.
He added that the path ahead may be challenging, but with the unwavering support of the leaders, Governor Agbu Kefas's steadfast leadership and the collective determination of the people the state will emerge stronger and more united than ever before.
In his submission, the Chairman of National Union Local Government Employees, NULGE Taraba State Chapter, Comr Baji Damuga, appealed that there should be an upward review of salaries of local government staff,f, among other demands.
The Deputy Chairman Nigeria Union of Teachers NUT Taraba State Chapter Comrd, Blessing Machoko, appealed for the implementation of the Teacher's Salaries Structure, TSS in Taraba State as obtained in other States of the federation, among other demands.
