SPORTS: Taraba State Commissioner Ministry of Youths and Sports Development Hon Joseph Joshua describes Sports as a unifying factor.

The Commissioner Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, Hon Joseph Joshua says the Taraba State Government is committed to using sports to promote unity.

The Commissioner stated this while addressing the press as the world commemorates the Olympics Day Run also Known as the Olympic Day.

He remarked that Day is set aside to encourage people to engage in exercise for their health benefit.

According to him, this year's theme 'Unity in Diversity Through Sports' is apt as Sports are widely accepted as a unifying factor in society.

Hon Joseph urged the people of the state to create time to engage in a five-kilometer run as part of the commemoration.

He revealed that the Ministry slated Saturday Twenty-ninth of June to commemorate the World Olympic Day Run to kickstart from the Mile Six Jalingo roundabout and be terminated at the Jolly Nyame Stadium by seven o'clock in the morning.

The Number Sportsman in Taraba State urged Tarabans particularly Jalingo residents to turn out en mass to participate in the exercise.

He said the Governor who is a Sport-friendly leader has been supportive in providing the necessary facilities to aid sports development in the state.

Meanwhile, a statement released by the Ministry indicated that Taraba State Governor Dr Agbu Kefas will participate in the exercise as the Special Runner.

It adds that the Commissioner of the Ministry is the Chief Host while the Taraba State Sports Council is the Host.

INSECURITY: Two suspected kidnappers nabbed in Mayo Dassa, Jalingo.

Troops of six Brigade Nigerian Army headquarters ,Jalingo have dismantled a notorious kidnapping syndicate terrorizing parts of Jalingo and Lau Local Government Areas of Taraba State.  A statement by Acting Assistant Director Army Public Relations Six Brigade Nigeria Army headquarters, Jalingo, Captain Olubodunde Oni says the Brigade act on an intelligence report and two suspects, identified as Ali Idi and Haruna Umar were apprehended early this week. RELIGION: UMC-N Bishop Ande Emmanuel decries continual tensions,calls on Gov.Agbu to waive into the matter.

The Resident Bishop United Methodist Church Nigeria  Episcopal Area, Ande Emmanuel has decried continual tensions impacting the church in Nigeria. The Bishop, in a Press briefing in Jalingo, condemned any act of violence or disrespect to the church, referencing the attack at Banyan Theological Seminary in the Bambur Community of Karim Lamido Local government area.
