TARABA: Gov Kefas approves the release of another trench of one billion naira for payment of gratuity.

Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba State has directed the release of another one billion naira to continue payments of gratuities.

This is coming hours to his first year anniversary in office.

In a statement by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Digital Communications Mr Emmanuel Bello.

The statement reveals that the commissioner of finance, Dr Sarah Enoch Adi, said the governor gave the directive as part of his commitment to offsetting all gratuities and pensions backlog.

The Finance Commissioner describes his actions as full of passion and zeal to confront the debts.

DR Adi says that this was the second time the payments were getting huge funds to settle arrears.

The commissioner noted that the gratuities are being paid most transparently, stressing the need for proper documentation for prompt actions.

The Statement recalls that Governor Kefas recently started the payments of gratuity after years of neglect adding that the last time any payments were made was in twenty eleven.

It adds that the hiatus had led to an accumulation of billions in arrears.

The statement says Today's directive is seen as a consolidation of the earlier payments as many beneficiaries had testified that they did not believe they would live to see any payments of gratuities.

It further reveals the beneficiaries expressed gratitude and wished the government well in this endeavour.

The statement equally notes that the payments are coming at a time of great hardship in the country, stressing that the gratuities are cushioning the harsh effects of the removal of oil subsidies.
