Unpaid Taraba Sweepers stage protest call on Gov Agbu Kefas to wave into their plights.


Some members of operation Keep Taraba clean yesterday stage a protest calling on authorities concern to pay them their entitlements.

The protesters who were carrying placards with different inscriptions such 'Pay us our allowance',' SGS Must Go' 'We were only paid one month' 'We worked for it give us' among others.

A source who spoke with Jalingo Times and preferred not to named said they their protest followed what he described as injustice in the payment of their allowances.

The source said though Governor Agbu Kefas had approved money for the payment of their outstanding four months allowances,but some of the sweepers got one,two months payment while others were not paid at All.

The source added that after several complaints to the State Coordinator of the program and his consistent responses that he has been trying all he could to to ensure they get paid,they decided to stage the protest.

The source revealed that following their complaints and demand for provision of bank statements by those to be paid which have been done in many times they thought protesting will just be their last resort and appealed to Taraba State Governor Dr Agbu Kefas to look into their plights.

When contacted, State Coordinator Operation Keep Taraba Clean Project Iliya Kefas distanced self from the said protest.

Iliya Kefas said following complaints by those yet to be paid,he directed them to submit their bank statements for onward forwarding to the committee saddled with the responsibility of their payment.

He however call for calm reiterating that the committee responsible for their payment will address their challenges.

He reminded them that the Governor Dr Agbu Kefas engaged them into the work because of his passion for human development and will continue to support them build their economic status in the state.
