Festival: Revival of Nwonyo fishing and Cultural festival is a boom to Taraba State.

Taraba State Governor Agbu Kefas saluted for restoring Nwonyo Fishing and Cultural Festival Ibi.


The Commissioner Petroleum Taskforce Committee: Association of Nigerian Refinery Petroleum Marketers Taraba State Chapter, Honorable Boaz Ishaku lauds Governor Agbu Kefas for reviving the Nwonyo Fishing and Cultural Festival in Ibi, Ibi LGA, Taraba State.

Hon. Boaz in a statement describes the effort of Governor Agbu Kefas as unprecedented.

He noted with sense of honor that the rekindling of the festival shows the love and respect the Governor has for the people, traditions and cultural heritage.

According to him, the Nwonyo Fishing and Cultural Festival is one among the Nature's Gift to the Nation that Taraba State is showcasing to the world.

Hon. Boaz while reeling out the significance of the festival enjoined people of the state, particularly those from Ibi to use the event to promote peace, harmony and unity among the diverse ethnic groups of area.

He also observes that the event on the other boom the businesses in the local government area and its neighbouring council area, the Wukari.

The statement added that the event provide a platform for participation of other ethnic groups to showcase their artefacts, customs, costumes among others.

Hon Boaz lauded the Taraba State Ministry of Culture and Eco-Tourism for spearheading the organisation of the event through success.

Recalled that the Festival is coming back alive after fourteen years when it was last observed at Nwonyo lake.

On the account of this, he expresses hope that the take home messages and display of Cultural activities will continue to light the horizon of ideas of all to join hands to promote unity and development in the state.

He appreciates the dignitaries who came from far and near to Ibi, Taraba State to graced the event.

The commissioner also thanked the sons and daughters of Ibi local government Area for conducting themselves peacefully.
