International Women's Day: L-PRES Gender Specialist Rahab Machoko urges physically challenged women to report any form of sexual assault.

As part of activity to commemorate International Women's Day, the Gender based Specialist, Taraba Livestock productivity and Resilience Support Project (LPRES), Mrs. Rahab Machoko, has paid a visit to the physically challenged women to identify with them and give them a sense of belonging.
Mrs. Machoko, who was accompanied in the visit by the Director of women and Child Development, Ministry of women affairs and Child development, Mrs. Grace Danladi and other high profile women from the Non Governmental Organizations (NGOs), visited the support groups in their clusters at their workshop complex in Jalingo, the Taraba state capital.
The physically challenged persons were elated in sighting the LPRES gender specialist and the government officials who came to identify with thier plights.
In her opening address, the Gender Specialist Mrs. Rahab Machoko said they were at the blind workshop to encourage them and also to remind them that God who created them did not make a mistakes, Noting that God loves them and would not abandon them in time of needs. She stressed that they have nothing much to offer but their widow mites and also to commemorate with them the women's International Day slated for friday.
The LPRES Specialist advised the support groups to report to the appropriate authority anyone who wanted to assault them sexually.
She noted that their organization frowned at gender based violence and are ever ready to stand with them as such they should not hesitate to report such cases.
On her part, the Director of women and child development ministry of Women Affairs and Child development, Mrs. Grace Danladi, advised them to always take their children for vaccination against killer diseases.
She encouraged them to take proper care of their bodies and to report any form of sexual harassment or report anyone who wanted to take advantage of them.
She reiterated the commitment and determination of her Excellency, the wife of Taraba State Governor Mrs. Kefas Agyin and the commissioner of women affairs and Child Development Mrs. Mary Sinjen, to makes life better for children and women most especially the less privileged.
Mrs. Mochoko entertained the support groups as well as presented some packages containing assorted goods to the leaders of the clusters groups as well as had a group photographs with them.
In her vote of thanks, the physically challenged woman Leader, Mrs. Ladidi thanked the visitors for their acts of generosity and magnanimity and for identifying with them and prayed to God to bless them.
The physically challenged people who came in their clusters include, the lame, the blinds, the deaf, the mute as well as those who were deformed as a result of spinal cord injuries.
