Taraba State Commissioner of Police CP, Joseph Eribo said Journalists are critical stakeholders in the fight against crime and criminalities in the state.
The CP stated this while he visited the Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists NUJ Taraba State Council at the Press Centre, Jalingo.
CP Joseph Eribo Said the purpose of his visit is to seek partnership with the Journalists for excellent performance.
The Commissioner of Police remarked that in executing its responsibilities as law enforcers he believes Journalists will aid in accomplishing the duties in no small measure.
He affirmed that his doors are open to the Journalists seeking clarifications on issues that concerns security and protection of lives and property in the state.
The CP appreciated Journalists for their doggedness in informing the public as well as publicising the activities of Police in Taraba State.
Responding, the Chairman Nigeria Union of Journalists NUJ Taraba State Comrade Mathew Eliud Jen said Journalists are ready to partner with Police in the state to work for the betterment of Taraba.
Mathew Jen told the Commissioner that the Union wish the Taraba State Police Command can organize and Sponsor training for Journalists and Divisional Police Officers in the state to keep them abreast on how best to relate in the course of their duties.
The Chairman appreciated the Police Public Relations Officer PPRO SP Abdullahi Usman for being media friendly.
Recalled that CP Joseph Eribo is the Seven seventh Commissioner deployed to work in Taraba state Police Command and the First to officially paid courtesy visit on the leadership of the NUJ Taraba State Council.
