Education: 55 learners Graduated from Adult Literacy Centre in Wukari LGA.

Taraba State Mass Education Board graduates 55 learners in Jukun and Hausa languages in Wukari.

Executive Secretary Taraba State Mass Education Board Mr. Obadiah Andrew Agbu has reiterated the  commitment of the board to promote literacy in the society.

Obadiah Andrew Agbu disclosed this in the interview  that recently the board graduated fifty learners mostly women in Wukari Local Government Area.

He revealed that the graduates were taught Jukun and Hausa languages as thirty are awarded  Basic Certificate in Jukun Language while twenty five received Basic Certificate in Hausa language

 He remarked that the development is in collaboration with Jukun,Wapan Literacy and Language Development,NBTT, project.

Agbu called on spirited individuals, philanthropist, corporate organisations,Non Governmental Organizations NGOs and Faith based organization to open literacy centres to help reduce the illiteracy rate to the barest minimum.

The Executive Secretary  gave the Governor a pat on the back for declaring a State of Emergency on Education in Taraba state saying this will  lead to the growth of Education sector.

Agbu said those who cannot read and write  in Jukun, English and Hausa languages and wished to be trained on vocational and functional skills to avail themselves so as to enroll into the program in Wukari and other Local Government Areas of the state.

He revealed that in Wukari the functional centres are Skills and Adult Literacy Centre located at Local Education Authority Office, CLTC Adult Literacy Centre, Adult Literacy Centre,Hyuku Primary School, Adult Literacy Centre Rafin Kada  Primary School, CRCN Wa'aka Yam Market Area, Adult Literacy Centre Ndo Motor Primary School and CRCN Wapan Nghanku Adult Literacy Centre Wukari.

Others are Mamara Adult Literacy Centre Abite Street, Adult Literacy Centre Federal University Wukari,Nuru Islam Literacy Centre Angwaan Zungo Rafin Kada,Gidin Dorowa Adult Literacy Centre and Sondi Primary School Literacy Centre.


He appreciated the Aku Uka, Manu Ishaku Adda Ali  for ensuring that people become literate in the Jukun language as well as Head of Local Government Administration HOLGA Wukari Mallam Abdulrahin Tanko for given the program the desired attention.
