The Nigeria for Women Programme Scale-Up Project (NFWP-SU) in Plateau State has stepped up its community engagement efforts in Jos South Local Government Area, extending its sensitization and recruitment campaign to Bukuru and Gyel A wards.

The outreach, coordinated by the Plateau State Project Coordinating Unit (SPCU), was aimed at raising awareness about the programme and recruiting prospective Ward Facilitators to support effective implementation at the grassroots level.

At Bukuru Ward, traditional leaders, women, and other stakeholders gathered to learn about the objectives and opportunities offered by the project. The engagement forms part of ongoing efforts to ensure that women across communities are adequately informed and positioned to benefit from the initiative.

Speaking during the sensitization exercise, the Mai Angwa of Yelwa Club, Da Christopher Pam, commended the government for bringing the programme closer to the people. He described the initiative as a significant step toward promoting women's participation in economic activities and improving household livelihoods.

Pam welcomed members of the NFWP-SU SPCU team and lauded the project's emphasis on sustainable economic empowerment for women. He expressed optimism that the programme would generate positive social and economic outcomes for Bukuru and neighboring communities.

The sensitization team later proceeded to Gyel A Ward, where residents and stakeholders were briefed on the project's objectives, implementation process, and expected benefits.

Addressing participants, the Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Nyango Community, Rev. Samuel Panchi, described the NFWP-SU as a timely intervention capable of transforming the lives of women and families. He expressed appreciation for the programme's introduction in Plateau State and pledged the support of the association toward its successful implementation.

During the engagements, the Community Institution Building (CIB) Anchor, Mr. Kekshak Diyal, provided participants with a comprehensive overview of the project. He highlighted its goals, expected outcomes, and the opportunities available to women through membership in Women Affinity Groups (WAGs).

Diyal also outlined the seven core principles guiding the programme—transparency, accountability, inclusion, participation, integrity, equity, and sustainability—stressing that adherence to these values would be critical to achieving the project's objectives and maintaining public trust.

The sensitization sessions featured interactive discussions and question-and-answer segments, allowing community members to seek clarification and gain a deeper understanding of the programme.

The exercise concluded with the seeding process and the recruitment of prospective Ward Facilitators who will play key roles in coordinating project activities within their communities.

The strong participation of women, community leaders, and other stakeholders in both Bukuru and Gyel A wards underscored the growing acceptance and enthusiasm for the Nigeria for Women Programme Scale-Up Project as it continues to expand its reach across Jos South Local Government Area.
