The Special Adviser to the Taraba State Governor on Christian Religious Matters, Very Rev. Fr. Sunday Muke Patrick, has visited the fire-ravaged St. Mary’s Catholic Cathedral, Wukari to assess the extent of damage and convey the sympathy of Governor Agbu Kefas to the Catholic community.
Fr. Patrick made the visit shortly after representing the governor at the RCCN Zion Convention in Takum, where he had earlier attended activities on behalf of the state government.
During the visit to the cathedral, the Special Adviser expressed deep concern over the fire incident which affected the historic place of worship. He described the development as a painful loss to the Catholic faithful and the wider Christian community in Taraba State.
Fr. Patrick conveyed Governor Kefas’ heartfelt sympathy to the Bishop, clergy and members of the Catholic Church, assuring them that the state government stands in solidarity with them during the difficult period.
He also held discussions with the Cathedral Administrator and other priests, where he received firsthand information about the circumstances surrounding the incident and the level of damage caused by the fire.
The Special Adviser prayed for the quick restoration of the cathedral, while calling for continued peace, unity and resilience among members of the Catholic Diocese of Wukari and the people of Taraba State.
