Christians have been urged to deepen their relationship with God and embrace spiritual renewal as the Lenten season progresses. The Special Adviser to the Taraba State Governor on Christian Religious Matters, Very Rev. Fr. Sunday Patrick Muke, gave the call in a message to the faithful on the Third Sunday of Lent.
In the message, Fr. Muke reflected on the Gospel passage of John 4:5–42, which recounts the encounter between Jesus Christ and the Samaritan woman at the well. He explained that the passage highlights Jesus as the giver of the “living water” that satisfies the deepest thirst of the human heart.
According to him, the encounter between Jesus and the Samaritan woman demonstrates that God’s grace is available to all people regardless of background, stressing that genuine fulfillment can only be found through a sincere relationship with Christ.
The cleric noted that the Lenten period offers Christians an opportunity for reflection, repentance, and spiritual growth. He urged the faithful to open their hearts to God’s renewing grace during the sacred season.
Fr. Muke further called on Christians to reflect the love of Christ in their daily lives through their words and actions, emphasizing the importance of compassion and moral uprightness.
He also encouraged residents of Taraba State to use the Lenten season as a time to promote peace, unity, and kindness within their communities, expressing hope that the period would strengthen harmony and mutual understanding among the people.
