Alleged Job Scam: Suspect Arrested for Defrauding Woman of ₦1.2 Million in Jalingo.

A suspected fraudster, identified as Sunday N. David, has been arrested for allegedly defrauding a woman of ₦1.2 million under the pretence of securing employment for her twin sons.

The victim, Esther Pius Bala, disclosed this during an interview with journalists, explaining that she was forced to report the matter to security operatives after exhausting all efforts to recover her money.

According to Bala, the incident began last year when she was introduced to the suspect by an acquaintance who claimed he could facilitate job opportunities for her children.

She alleged that Sunday David subsequently began collecting money from her in installments, assuring her that the payment would guarantee employment for her twin sons.

Bala said her suspicion grew after months passed without any progress regarding the promised jobs, while the suspect allegedly began avoiding her calls and went into hiding.

The victim further alleged that the suspect worked in collaboration with another individual who suspiciously claimed to be John Machoko in the Ministry of Finance, and together they allegedly orchestrated the fraudulent scheme.

She added that with the help of security operatives, the suspect was eventually apprehended by officers of the Nigeria Police Force at the Jolly Nyame Stadium.

In his response, the Director Salaries , (Computer Unit) Accountant General Office ,Taraba State Ministry of Finance, John Machoko distanced himself from the fraudulent act, saying since the suspect has been nabbed he should be prosecuted after investigation by the police.

Police authorities are expected to continue investigations into the matter, while efforts are ongoing to identify and apprehend the alleged accomplice.

INSECURITY:Bissaula Community Leader Raises Alarm Over Renewed Attack, Calls for Lasting Security Deployment.

A community leader in Bissaula Ward of Kurmi Local Government Area, Taraba State, Alhaji Idi Ismaila, has decried a fresh wave of violence that disrupted the fragile peace recently restored to the area. He made the remarks during a press briefing where he recounted the latest attack and appealed for urgent government intervention.
