A Humble Beginning with a Purposeful Path
Born on March 6, 1965, in Jen village, Karim Lamido Local Government Area of Taraba State, Dorcas Sirgawi began her life’s journey grounded in community values and faith. She attended LEA Jen Primary School before proceeding to Government Girls Secondary School, Yola, where she obtained her General Certificate of Education in 1983.
Her fascination with caregiving and community service guided her into the field of nursing — a profession she has come to redefine through excellence, empathy, and education.
A Lifelong Commitment to Care
Dr. Dugule began her professional journey in 1992 as a Staff Midwife at the General Hospital, Jalingo. Through sheer dedication and resilience, she rose through the ranks, serving as Senior and Principal Midwife Officer at the Taraba State Specialist Hospital. Her diligence and leadership earned her a transition into academia at the Taraba State College of Nursing and Midwifery, where she has since made indelible marks.
Over the years, she has served in several leadership capacities — Chief Midwife Educator, Deputy Provost (Academic), and currently, Acting Provost of the institution. Her tenure has been characterized by innovation in curriculum design, student mentorship, and institutional advancement.

Education remains the cornerstone of Dr. Dugule’s career. From her early training as a Registered Nurse and Midwife to earning a Diploma in Nursing Education at the Polytechnic Calabar, her academic journey reflects persistence and excellence.
She later obtained her B.NSc from the National Open University of Nigeria, her M.Sc. in Nursing from Espam Formation University, Benin Republic, and ultimately a Ph.D. in Nursing from the Ecole SupĂ©rieure Robert De-Sorbon, Les-Nancy, France (2017–2020).
Today, she is also a visiting lecturer at HTIB-Atlantis University, Lome, Togo, affiliated with her alma mater in France, and a part-time lecturer at the Taraba State University, contributing to the training of future healthcare leaders.
