The Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Taraba State Council, Comrade Mathew Eliud Jen, has appealed to the state police command to cooperate with journalists who use motorcycles for official duties, particularly within Jalingo metropolis.

Jen made the appeal when he led officials of the NUJ on a courtesy visit to the Commissioner of Police, Taraba State Command, CP Beity Enekpen Isokpan, in Jalingo.

He emphasized the need for closer collaboration between journalists and the police to enhance effective information dissemination and strengthen crime-fighting efforts in the state. The NUJ chairman also welcomed CP Isokpan to Taraba and assured her of the media’s readiness to publicize issues that promote peace and development.

While commending the police for their relentless efforts in combating crime, Jen stressed that stronger synergy with the press would help expose and tackle criminal activities more effectively.

In her response, CP Isokpan acknowledged the crucial role journalists play in modern policing, describing them as key partners in crime prevention and community safety. She assured the NUJ of her commitment to building a strong working relationship with the media in Taraba State.

A community leader in Bissaula Ward of Kurmi Local Government Area, Taraba State, Alhaji Idi Ismaila, has decried a fresh wave of violence that disrupted the fragile peace recently restored to the area. He made the remarks during a press briefing where he recounted the latest attack and appealed for urgent government intervention.
