Farmers and herders in Taraba state have urged to promote peace for a better society.
Taraba State Project Coordinator of Livestock Productivity and Resilence Support Mr. Hananiah G. Albert said during the sensitisation workshop at Star Exclusive Jalingo.
He said the workshop which is centered on understanding the root causes of crises and conflicts between Farmers and Herders is aimed at Education stakeholders to promote peace.
The State Project Coordinator revealed that the Livestock Productivity and Resilence Support Project is an intervention of the World Bank aiming to support about Forty thousand livestock and Crop Farmers to improve their productivity in the state.
Albert said both Herders and farmers are friends because they share common resources hence the need to embrace means that will bring Development wherever they lived.
In his presentation, Professor Suntai Dauda of the Mass Communication Department,Taraba State University Jalingo said as measures to address farmers and herders conflicts Government must introduce pilot ranching in the three senatorial zones for herders .
The facilitator lamented that as a result of such conflicts it has led to workforce displacement affecting the economic development of the state in many years.
Speaking on the effect of farmers and herders conflicts on Interpersonal Relationship and Economic growth Professor Dauda Suntai said as a result of such ugly Development it has led to workforce displacement in many society.
Professor Suntai enumerated ways out to mitigate farmers and herders conflicts to include dialogue, respect to one another occupation and values, ranching and seeking redress in court.
The resources person remarked that the establishment pilot ranching in the three senatorial zones of the state will serve as an example for herders to see how it is been done in the other parts of the world.

Religious leaders in Taraba State have been warned not to instigate congregation to conflicts.
A lecturer Department of Peace Studies and Conflicts Management, Taraba State University Jalingo Doctor Danjuma Yusuf gave the warning while presenting a paper during workshop organised by Taraba State Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project for religious leaders in Jalingo.
Dr. Danjuma Yusuf while presenting the paper titled Conflict Dialogue Between Farmers and Herders in Taraba State; a panacea for Socio economic development said farmers must avoid things that will trigger crisis in the interest of progress.
Speaking the State Project Coordinator Taraba State Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project, Hananiah G. Albert enjoined participants to pay keen interest to what they will be taught and to equally replicate same in the various local government areas.
The Project Coordinator appreciated the Governor Doctor Agbu Kefas for his support to activities of the organization in the state.
In his presentation on Farmers and Herders Conflicts,the Imperative for Dialogue and Alternative Dispute Resolution another lecturer Department of Political Studies and International Relations, Taraba State University Jalingo Isa Mohammed said farmers and herders should learn to resolve any issues confronting them amicably.
Isa Mohammed also stressed the need for farmers and herders to see themselves as members of one family who play critical roles in food production of the country.
He reminded them that as producers as food and meat to the nation they must shun violence to improve the Gross Domestic Product of Nigeria.
The featured symbolic constitution of conflict mediation and Management team whose duties is to resolve any issue concerning farmers and herders in the respective local government areas.
