The Chairperson of the , Mary James Gaisa, has called on employers across Taraba State to embrace inclusive hiring practices by providing employment opportunities to persons living with spinal cord injuries.
In a press release dated March 3, 2026, and addressed to the Head of Taraba State Civil Service, all employers of labour in the state’s public and private sectors, as well as the 16 Local Government Chairmen, Gaisa urged institutions to take deliberate steps toward creating disability-friendly workplaces.
She emphasized that individuals with spinal cord injuries possess valuable skills, talents, and resilience that can significantly contribute to the socio-economic development of Taraba State.
“People with disabilities are not defined by their conditions,” she stated, noting that inclusive employment not only promotes social justice but also strengthens organizations by harnessing diverse perspectives and dedication.
Gaisa further appealed to government agencies, corporate bodies, and small-scale enterprises to demonstrate leadership in promoting equal opportunities, stressing that inclusivity is essential for sustainable development.
The association reiterated its commitment to working with stakeholders to build a more inclusive and accessible Taraba State where everyone, regardless of physical condition, has the opportunity to thrive and contribute meaningfully to society.
