The Special Adviser to the Governor of Taraba State on Christian Religion Matters, Very Rev. Fr. Sunday Patrick Muke, has called on Christians across the state to remain steadfast in faith and attentive to the voice of Christ as they journey through the Lenten season.
In a Sunday message to mark the Second Sunday of Lent, Fr. Muke reflected on the Gospel reading from the 17:1–9, which recounts the Transfiguration of Jesus Christ.
He noted that the passage reveals Christ’s divine glory to His disciples and affirms Him as the beloved Son of God, with a clear command from the Father that “we should listen to Him.”
According to the cleric, the Transfiguration serves as a powerful reminder that beyond the sacrifices and disciplines associated with Lent lies the promise of glory. He emphasized that the sacred season offers believers an opportunity for spiritual renewal, urging them to allow the light of Christ to guide their personal lives, public service, and leadership responsibilities.
“As we journey through this sacred season, we are called to listen to Christ and allow His light to guide our lives, our service, and our leadership,” he stated.
Fr. Muke further prayed that the Lenten period would strengthen the faith of Christians, renew their hope, and inspire them to reflect the light of Christ in and beyond.
He prayed for the people of the state, expressing hope that the season would bring spiritual growth and divine grace to all.
