TARABA: ALGON Applauds Gov Kefas as ₦1.6bn Boost Hits Taraba LG Councils for Grassroots Development.

The Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON), Taraba State Chapter, has commended Governor Agbu Kefas for approving and releasing the sum of ₦1.6 billion to the sixteen Local Government Councils in the state to boost grassroots development.

In a press statement signed by the ALGON State Chairman, Hon. Moses Maihankali, the association described the disbursement as a strategic and timely intervention aimed at strengthening local government administration and accelerating development at the community level.

Hon. Maihankali said the fund release demonstrates the governor’s strong commitment to inclusive governance and recognition of local councils as critical drivers of sustainable development. He noted that the financial support would significantly improve the capacity of the councils to implement priority projects and deliver essential services to residents.

According to the statement, ALGON considers the gesture a landmark achievement and a clear sign of confidence in local government leadership as partners in the state’s development agenda. The association added that empowering councils directly reinforces collaboration, accountability, and shared responsibility between the state and local governments.

The ALGON chairman explained that the funds are expected to support people-oriented projects across key sectors, including rural infrastructure, primary healthcare, education support services, water supply, and community-based economic initiatives. He said the projects would have immediate and measurable impact on the living standards of people at the grassroots.

He further assured that all sixteen Local Government Council Chairmen are committed to transparency and prudent resource management in the use of the funds. He added that monitoring and reporting mechanisms would be strictly followed to ensure accountability and value for money in project execution.

ALGON also pledged continued cooperation with the state government in implementing policies and programmes that promote inclusive growth, peace, and sustainable development across Taraba State.
