A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Donga Local Government Area of Taraba State, Mr. Ezra Voka, has commended the extension of the ongoing electronic registration of party members nationwide, describing it as timely and inclusive.
Voka, who is the Special Adviser to Governor Agbu Kefas on Rural Development, said the extension would provide an opportunity for party members who were previously unable to register to do so.
He praised APC members in Donga, particularly those in Nyita Ward, for their massive turnout during the registration exercise, noting that the enthusiasm reflected the party’s growing strength in the area.
According to him, sustained engagement by stakeholders and party leaders through meetings and sensitisation campaigns contributed significantly to the improved participation, as members were encouraged to take advantage of the registration window.
Voka added that similar strategies were being deployed to mobilise residents who were yet to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), urging them to register ahead of future elections.
Speaking on Governor Agbu Kefas’ decision to defect to the APC and his subsequent reception into the party on January 31, 2026, Voka described the move as a major political milestone for Taraba State.
He said the governor’s entry into the ruling party had elevated the state’s relevance in national politics, citing the inclusion of Governor Kefas in the APC Convention Committee as evidence.
“Taraba State is now fully represented at the national level. If issues are being discussed nationally, Taraba is now included. The constitution of the APC Convention Committee, with our governor as a member, shows what we would have missed. This is a very good development, and we are solidly behind him,” Voka said.
He assured that the people of Donga would continue to give the state government their full support to ensure the success of its programmes and policies.
The APC chieftain, however, appealed to the state government to address key infrastructural needs in Donga, including the construction of a befitting Governor’s Lodge and a recreational centre.
“Donga does not have a governor’s lodge. If His Excellency visits and wants to rest or have lunch, arrangements have to be made in private homes. I don’t think that is good enough,” he said.
Voka also called for the renovation of the existing recreational centre in the area, noting that it would boost internally generated revenue for the local council.
Additionally, he urged the state government to prioritise the construction of the 20-kilometre Donga–Mararaba road, saying the project would open up the area economically and facilitate cross-border trade with neighbouring Cameroon.
