Grassroots Momentum: Zing Chairman Applauds Public Backing for Kefas, Celebrates APC Registration Surge.

By our Correspondent, February 6,2026.
Support for the Taraba State Government appears to be gaining stronger grassroots expression, as the Chairman of Zing Local Government Council, Evangelist Davoro Titus Gwandis, has openly commended citizens for standing behind the administration of Governor Agbu Kefas and actively participating in party registration efforts.

In a detailed interaction with journalists in Jalingo, Evangelist Gwandis painted a picture of growing political alignment and civic engagement, describing public support as a critical pillar for effective governance and sustainable development. According to him, the cooperation shown by residents across communities is not only encouraging but necessary for delivering meaningful dividends of democracy.

He emphasized that governance thrives where citizens show ownership and participation, noting that Taraba State is entering a phase where collaboration between state and federal authorities could unlock broader opportunities for infrastructure, social services, and economic growth. He said the alignment with the government at the centre places the state in a better strategic position to attract partnerships and projects that can directly impact local communities.

The Zing council boss particularly praised the people of his local government area for what he described as “steady and dependable support” for council programmes and policies. He credited community leaders, youth groups, and stakeholders for maintaining constructive engagement with local authorities, saying such cooperation has helped stabilize and advance grassroots initiatives.

“Our people have shown understanding and commitment,” he noted, underscoring that development at the local level depends heavily on trust between leaders and residents. He called for the sustenance of this relationship, adding that continuity in support would enable the council to consolidate on existing achievements and introduce new people-oriented projects.

Beyond governance, Evangelist Gwandis highlighted the political dimension of citizen participation through the ongoing electronic registration exercise of the All Progressives Congress (APC). He described the exercise as a significant step toward strengthening internal party democracy and building a credible membership database.

He urged those who have not yet registered to take advantage of the remaining window before the deadline, stressing that political participation begins with proper registration and documentation. He further applauded the turnout recorded in Zing Local Government Area, ranking it among the most responsive in Taraba State.

Observers say the combination of public endorsement for the state administration and high participation in party registration reflects a widening culture of civic and political involvement in the area. Analysts also note that such trends could shape future political organization and governance outcomes across the state.

For Zing and its leadership, the message is clear: sustained citizen support, active political participation, and intergovernmental cooperation are being positioned as the tripod for accelerated grassroots development.

Kurmi on the Brink: Why Silence Now Could Spell Disaster

By The Nigerian Newspointer Editorial Board In the quiet hills and lush forests of Kurmi Local Government Area of Taraba State, an uneasy wind is blowing. Migration in itself is not new—men and women have always moved in search of safety, trade, and survival. But what is happening in Kurmi today bears markers that Nigeria has, sadly, seen before. And if urgent steps are not taken, the consequences could be dire. A Pattern Too Familiar From Plateau to Benue, from Southern Kaduna to Zamfara, Nigeria’s troubled history is littered with stories of migration that started innocently but later spiraled into violent conflicts. Farmers and herders once lived in uneasy but manageable coexistence until land sales, unchecked settlements, and political silence turned simple disputes into ethnic conflagrations. The echoes of those past crises are now knock...
