FAITH: BSN Honours Fr. Sunday Patrick Muke for Driving Gospel Outreach and Church Growth in Taraba.

By Jako Keke, February 14,2026.

The Special Adviser on Christian Religious Matters, Sunday Patrick Muke, has been honoured for his contributions to Christian evangelism and scripture outreach by the Bible Society of Nigeria (BSN), Taraba State Chapter.

The recognition was conferred during the Society’s 60th anniversary celebration and fundraising event held in Jalingo, an occasion that drew church leaders, government representatives, and members of various Christian organisations from across Taraba State.

Presenting the award, the BSN Taraba State Chairman, Filister Irarimam Musa, commended the cleric for what he described as consistent and selfless support toward the Society’s mission of translating, publishing, and distributing the Bible. He noted that the Special Adviser has remained a dependable partner in promoting church growth and spiritual development across denominations in the state.
Dr. Musa said the honour was in recognition of Father Muke’s encouragement of Bible-based initiatives, mobilization support, and advocacy for wider access to scriptures, especially among rural Christian communities. He added that such partnerships are vital to sustaining BSN’s outreach programmes and literacy efforts.

In his acceptance remarks, Father Muke expressed gratitude to the Society for the recognition, describing it as both humbling and motivating. He said the award would strengthen his resolve to continue supporting programmes that deepen Christian faith and moral values in society.

He called on churches, faith-based groups, and individual believers to support BSN projects, particularly ongoing Bible translation and distribution drives, stressing that access to the scriptures remains essential for spiritual growth and community transformation.

The anniversary event also featured thanksgiving activities, testimonies, and a fundraising segment aimed at expanding Bible translation and distribution to underserved areas of the state. Organisers said proceeds will support new language translation projects and subsidised scripture distribution.

Kurmi on the Brink: Why Silence Now Could Spell Disaster

By The Nigerian Newspointer Editorial Board In the quiet hills and lush forests of Kurmi Local Government Area of Taraba State, an uneasy wind is blowing. Migration in itself is not new—men and women have always moved in search of safety, trade, and survival. But what is happening in Kurmi today bears markers that Nigeria has, sadly, seen before. And if urgent steps are not taken, the consequences could be dire. A Pattern Too Familiar From Plateau to Benue, from Southern Kaduna to Zamfara, Nigeria’s troubled history is littered with stories of migration that started innocently but later spiraled into violent conflicts. Farmers and herders once lived in uneasy but manageable coexistence until land sales, unchecked settlements, and political silence turned simple disputes into ethnic conflagrations. The echoes of those past crises are now knock...
