SERMON: Fr. Muke Calls on Christians to Uphold Faith, Unity in Taraba.

Jalingo, Jan. 11, 2026 — The Special Adviser to the Taraba State Governor on Christian Religion Matters, Very Rev. Fr. Sunday Patrick Muke, has urged Christians across the state to renew their commitment to faith, humility and service as a pathway to peace and sustainable development.

In a goodwill message issued on Sunday to mark reflections on the Gospel reading of Matthew 3:13–17, Fr. Muke said the baptism of Jesus Christ remains a powerful reminder of obedience to God’s will and the identity of believers as God’s beloved children.

According to him, the biblical account of Christ’s baptism, which reveals the presence of the Holy Trinity, underscores the spiritual foundation upon which Christians are called to live in unity and love.

“Through baptism, we are reminded that we belong to God and are called to live lives of faith, humility and service to one another,” the cleric stated.

Fr. Muke noted that the values embedded in the Christian faith—peace, unity, selflessness and compassion—are vital to the growth and stability of Taraba State, particularly in a time when harmony among diverse communities is essential for development.

Speaking on behalf of the Taraba State Government, he encouraged believers to remain steadfast in their faith and to continue promoting Christian values that foster peaceful coexistence and social progress across the state.

He further stressed that a renewed commitment to spiritual and moral principles would not only strengthen the church but also contribute to building a more just and prosperous Taraba.

RELIGION: UMC-N Bishop Ande Emmanuel decries continual tensions,calls on Gov.Agbu to waive into the matter.

The Resident Bishop United Methodist Church Nigeria Episcopal Area, Ande Emmanuel has decried continual tensions impacting the church in Nigeria. INSECURITY: Two suspected kidnappers nabbed in Mayo Dassa, Jalingo.

Troops of six Brigade Nigerian Army headquarters ,Jalingo have dismantled a notorious kidnapping syndicate terrorizing parts of Jalingo and Lau Local Government Areas of Taraba State. A statement by Acting Assistant Director Army Public Relations Six Brigade Nigeria Army headquarters, Jalingo, Captain Olubodunde Oni says the Brigade act on an intelligence report and two suspects, identified as Ali Idi and Haruna Umar were apprehended early this week. The statement adds that the culprits were captured during a raid at a local hotel in Mayo Dassa area of Jalingo metropolis where they were hiding.
