Gov. Kefas Praises 6 Brigade Troops at AFCRD 2026 Prayers in Jalingo.

By Jako Keke, January 11, 2026.

Taraba State Governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas, has commended the gallantry, professionalism and unwavering commitment of troops of the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army and other security agencies for their vital role in sustaining peace and stability across the state.

The Governor gave the commendation while delivering his goodwill message at the Armed Forces Celebration and Remembrance Day (AFCRD) 2026 Interdenominational Church Service held on Sunday, January 11, 2026, at the Cathedral Church of Christ, Anglican Diocese of Jalingo, Mayo Dasa.

Dr. Kefas described the Armed Forces as a pillar of national unity and sovereignty, noting that Taraba State has continued to enjoy relative peace due to the sacrifices, courage and constitutional duties of Nigeria’s military, particularly the Nigerian Army and the Air Force.

According to him, many adverse situations would have overwhelmed the state if not for the relentless service and resilience of security personnel deployed to Taraba.

The Governor reassured serving officers, veterans and families of fallen heroes of the continuous support and partnership of the Taraba State Government, pledging improved welfare, stronger collaboration with security agencies and enhanced community cooperation through intelligence sharing. He urged citizens to always support the Armed Forces through prayers, patriotism and appreciation, while praying that the sacrifices of fallen heroes would never be in vain.

In his address, the Commander of 6 Brigade Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, paid glowing tribute to officers and soldiers who paid the supreme price in the defence of Nigeria. He assured their families of the military’s and the nation’s constitutional support and care.

Brigadier General Uwa also commended officers and soldiers of 6 Brigade for their discipline, professionalism and courage in ongoing operations within Taraba State. He appreciated the Taraba State Government, sister security agencies and families of military personnel for their unwavering support.

He stressed that as long as Nigeria continues to remember its fallen heroes and honour its living defenders, no sacrifice made in the service of the nation would ever be in vain.

As part of the AFCRD 2026 activities, Juma’at prayers were earlier held on Friday, January 9, 2026, at the Jalingo Central Mosque, opposite the Emir of Muri’s Palace. The Commander, 6 Brigade Nigerian Army/Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke, was represented by the Chief of Staff, Headquarters 6 Brigade, Colonel A.U. Mohammed. Officers, soldiers, their families and personnel of sister security agencies were in attendance.

The interdenominational church service attracted dignitaries including Governor Kefas, senior government officials, heads of sister security agencies, traditional rulers, members of NAOWA and NASWA led by the Zonal Coordinator, Dr. Racheal Uwa, clergy, veterans, families of service personnel and other invited guests.

The prayer sessions underscored the essence of AFCRD 2026 as a period of remembrance, gratitude and national unity, while reaffirming the commitment of 6 Brigade Nigerian Army and Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke to the defence of Nigeria’s sovereignty and the maintenance of peace and security in Taraba State.
