Political leaders and key stakeholders in Zing Local Government Area of Taraba State have passed a vote of confidence on Governor Agbu Kefas and the Speaker of the Taraba State House of Assembly, Right Hon. John Kizito Bonzena, calling for their continuity beyond 2027.
The endorsement was unanimously reached at a well-attended gathering in Zing, where leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC), community stakeholders and party supporters assessed the performance of the two leaders and resolved to back them for another term.
Addressing the gathering, Chairman of Zing Local Government Council, Hon. Prince Evangelist Titus Davoro Gwandis JP, said the decision was informed by the “proven track records” of Governor Kefas and Speaker Bonzena in governance and service delivery.
According to him, Governor Kefas has demonstrated sincerity of purpose and commitment to the development of Taraba State, citing strides in infrastructure, human capital development, education, healthcare and security as critical areas of focus under his administration.
Hon. Davoro also commended the Speaker, Right Hon. John Kizito Bonzena, for what he described as impactful representation and visible projects executed across his constituency. He noted that the lawmaker’s accessibility, humility and dedication to constituents earned him overwhelming support from the people of Zing.
“Based on his performance and people-oriented leadership style, the people of Zing have unanimously passed a vote of confidence on the Speaker and endorsed him for continuity in 2027,” the council chairman stated.
He further urged party supporters, particularly those eligible to vote, to ensure they obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), describing the card as the “ultimate weapon” for electing leaders who will protect and advance their collective interests.
In his remarks, APC Chairman in Zing Local Government Area, Hon. Odoji Teyu, said Governor Kefas and Speaker Bonzena deserved the endorsement in recognition of their “relentless service to humanity.” He added that the show of support reflected the people’s desire to give the leaders another opportunity to consolidate on their achievements.
Hon. Teyu advised those nursing political ambitions against the endorsed leaders to exercise patience, noting that the present focus of the party in Zing was continuity and stability.
Other stakeholders who spoke at the event, including former Chairman of Zing Local Government Council, Hon. Andrew Luka Zanya; Special Adviser to the Governor on Public Complaints, Hon. Umar Sale Ibrahim; Hon. Francis Tokolo; and women leader, Mrs. Agatha Abraham Makoso, all declared their support for Governor Kefas and Speaker Bonzena.
They maintained that a second term for the duo would accelerate development across Taraba State, especially with the state now politically aligned with the Federal Government at the centre.
