VISIT: NUJ President Commends Governor Kefas’ Free Education Policy, Calls for Emulation.

The National President of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Comrade Alhassan Abdullahi Yahya, has lauded the free education policy introduced by Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba State, describing it as a transformative initiative worthy of emulation by other state governors.

Yahaya gave the commendation in Jalingo shortly after inspecting some ongoing projects in the state during his official vist, in the company of the Governor’s spokesman, Emmanuel Bello.

He noted that the free education policy would enhance access to learning at the primary and secondary school levels, while also motivating young people to pursue higher education.

The NUJ President further commended Governor Kefas for his strategic investment in the Taraba State College of Nursing and Midwifery, Jalingo, describing it as a bold step toward strengthening the state’s health sector.

Speaking on the state’s agricultural drive, Yahaya praised the Governor’s Green House initiative, urging other leaders across the country to replicate similar efforts to promote food security and boost agricultural productivity.

He also spoke on the Palliative Market project in Kpantinapu, saying that once operational, it would stimulate economic growth and offer relief to low-income earners.

While acknowledging the government’s impressive development strides, Comrade Yahya emphasized the need for continuous training and retraining of journalists, whom he described as vital partners in nation-building.

He charged media practitioners to uphold professionalism and ethical standards in the discharge of their duties to promote accurate and responsible journalism.

RELIGION: UMC-N Bishop Ande Emmanuel decries continual tensions,calls on Gov.Agbu to waive into the matter.

The Resident Bishop United Methodist Church Nigeria  Episcopal Area, Ande Emmanuel has decried continual tensions impacting the church in Nigeria. The Bishop, in a Press briefing in Jalingo, condemned any act of violence or disrespect to the church, referencing the attack at Banyan Theological Seminary in the Bambur Community of Karim Lamido Local government area. INSECURITY: Two suspected kidnappers nabbed in Mayo Dassa, Jalingo.

Troops of six Brigade Nigerian Army headquarters ,Jalingo have dismantled a notorious kidnapping syndicate terrorizing parts of Jalingo and Lau Local Government Areas of Taraba State.  A statement by Acting Assistant Director Army Public Relations Six Brigade Nigeria Army headquarters, Jalingo, Captain Olubodunde Oni says the Brigade act on an intelligence report and two suspects, identified as Ali Idi and Haruna Umar were apprehended early this week. The statement adds that the culprits were captured during a raid at a local hotel in Mayo Dassa area of Jalingo metropolis where they were hiding.  It adds that Further investigations led to the discovery that the gang's hideout was at Kona Mountain in Jalingo , where additional members of the syndicate were believed to be camped.
