The management of Taraba State University (TSU), Jalingo, has taken disciplinary action following what it described as inappropriate behaviors during the 2025 Students’ Week celebrations.
In a press release signed by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Sunday Paul Bako, the university expressed deep concern over the incidents, which it said did not reflect the institution’s values and standards.
Following an emergency meeting held on Monday, October 13, 2025, the university management suspended the Students’ Union Government (SUG) with immediate effect, citing lapses in coordination and supervision of student activities.
The management said the suspension would allow for a comprehensive review and reorganization of the union’s structure.
According to the statement, a revised structure for student representation will soon be introduced to enhance inclusiveness, accountability, and order in student leadership.
The university also announced that individuals found to have participated in actions that misrepresented its core values would face disciplinary procedures in line with established regulations.
Furthermore, the statement revealed that students involved in acts with criminal implications have been apprehended and handed over to relevant state authorities for further investigation and possible prosecution.
Professor Bako reaffirmed the university’s commitment to upholding the integrity of Taraba State University and ensuring that students are trained in both character and learning.
