The Taraba State High Court has officially embraced the Digital Case Management System, marking a major shift from the traditional manual approach to a more technology-driven method aimed at enhancing the speedy dispensation of justice.

The State Chief Judge, Justice Joel Filibus Agya, announced this development at the close of a one-day sensitisation workshop on the Enrollment and Onboarding of Taraba State High Court into the Nigerian Case Management System, Legal Mail, and e-Filing Application, held in Jalingo.

Justice Agya explained that the transition aligns with national efforts to modernize judicial operations across the federation, saying that “the era of manual case management at the High Courts will soon be history.” He emphasized that the digital system would promote transparency, efficiency, and timely delivery of justice.

Also speaking, the Chairman of the Judicial Information Technology Policy Committee of Nigeria, Justice Kashim Zannah, who moderated the roundtable discussion, highlighted the numerous benefits of the digital initiative, including improved case tracking, secure communication, and reduced administrative bottlenecks. He commended the Taraba State Judiciary for taking proactive steps toward embracing innovation in justice delivery.

Representatives of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), in their goodwill message, lauded the initiative and called for continuous training and retraining of judicial officers and staff to ensure seamless implementation of the system.

Participants at the workshop were also taken through practical demonstrations on the use of the Legal Mail and e-Filing Application, designed to equip them with essential ICT skills required for the new digital judicial environment.

With this development, Taraba State joins the growing list of states integrating technology into the justice system to improve efficiency and public confidence in the judiciary.
