As part of efforts to promote wellbeing and restore dignity among women, girls, and boys, the Ubola Rural Community Foundation (URCF), in collaboration with the North East Development Commission (NEDC), has carried out a comprehensive sensitization campaign on menstrual hygiene and general self-care in Taraba State.
While engaging CEO@ WOVAIDE, Mrs. Sarah David Ibi as Taraba State URCF Liason Focal point, Mrs. Ibi
speaking during the outreach at Mallum Community of Ardo-Kola Local Government Area, where 60 women and girls, along with 20 boys, were sensitized and presented with Dignity Kits Mrs Ibi underscored the importance of menstrual hygiene management in promoting health, dignity, and confidence among young people.
> “This initiative is all about wellbeing and restoring the dignity of women and girls, including boys,” Mrs. Ibi said. “By educating our communities on menstrual hygiene and self-care, we are not only promoting better health but also breaking the stigma surrounding menstruation.”
She commended the URCF and NEDC for chanelling resources to what matter most and reaffirmed WOVAIDE’s commitment to advancing gender-inclusive hygiene education and health awareness across Taraba State.
> “Our goal is to ensure that no girl, woman, or boy is left behind in the conversation about health and dignity,” she added. “Access to hygiene education and essential care materials is a fundamental right, not a privilege.”
The exercise, was also held at Model Government Day Secondary School (GDSS) and Magami GDSS. A total numbers of 450 students benefitted from the Dignity Kits containing essential personal hygiene materials.
