Leaders across organizations have been urged to embrace change and adapt to future trends in order to remain relevant in an increasingly globalized world.
This call was made by Mr. Kershio Vershima Mathew, guest speaker at the 2025 Hybrid Conference on the Future of Management in Africa, organized by the Institute of Corporate Administration (ICAN).
In his paper presentation titled “Embracing Leadership Competencies for the New Work Environment,” Mathew, a lecturer with the Department of Sociology, Taraba State University, Jalingo, emphasized the need for leaders to adopt innovative and transformational leadership styles.
He noted that technology has become an integral part of modern management practices and urged participants to leverage artificial intelligence (AI) and other digital tools to drive data-based decision-making and enhance productivity.
According to him, “People need practical experience to succeed in life. The world is changing rapidly, and only those who adapt will thrive.”
In his remarks, Dr. Ibrahim Simon, Taraba State Programme Coordinator of ICAN, said the conference was aimed at strengthening leadership capacity in a technology-driven world.
He encouraged leaders to align themselves with emerging technological trends to enhance efficiency and organizational performance.
Participants including Yusuf Ubandoma Danasabe, Rikikweka Musa, Amanten Joshua Ajiya, and Mary Jonathan Tijos expressed appreciation for the knowledge gained, pledging to apply it towards improving society.
The conference, held at Star Exclusive Hotel, ATC, Jalingo, drew participants from various professional backgrounds.
Certificates of participation and membership awards were presented to attendees at the end of the event.
