The Police Service Commission (PSC) has dispatched a high-powered delegation to Kano to oversee the commencement of the 2025 Police Academy (POLAC) admission screening exercise, which began Monday, October 6, 2025, in Wudil, Kano State.
Leading the delegation are retired Justice of the Supreme Court, Justice Paul Adamu Galumje, representing the Judiciary in the Commission, and DIG Taiwo Lakanu (fdc), representing the Police and serving as Chairman of the PSC Standing Committee on Police Matters.
The move comes as part of the Commission’s renewed commitment to transparency and accountability in police recruitment. Recently, the PSC unveiled a Whistle-Blowing Policy aimed at curbing malpractice and ensuring integrity in all recruitment processes. The Commission stated that the ongoing POLAC admission screening will serve as the first major test of the new policy.
In a statement signed by PSC Chairman, DIG Hashimu Argungu (rtd), mni, the Commission warned that anyone found violating recruitment rules or attempting to compromise the process would face severe sanctions, regardless of their position or influence.
Argungu appealed to all stakeholders involved in the exercise to “play by the rules,” emphasizing that the Commission is determined to sanitize police recruitment and produce officers the Force can be proud of.
He further called on state governments to take active interest in the screening to safeguard their quotas and ensure equitable representation across the federation.
“The Commission will continue to work with all relevant stakeholders to ensure a clean and credible recruitment process,” Argungu said, adding that inclusivity remains a key principle in the Commission’s management of police personnel.
The PSC delegation’s presence in Wudil underscores the Commission’s resolve to uphold integrity and transparency in shaping the future of the Nigeria Police Force.
