FG Withdraws Registration certificate of National Youth Council of Nigeria.

By Jako,October 7,2025.
The Federal Ministry of Youth Development has withdrawn the registration certificate of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) following an official communication from the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC).

According to a statement signed by Omolara Esan, Director of Information and Public Relations in the Ministry, the certificate earlier issued to the NYCN on October 28, 2020, has been revoked after a detailed review of the Council’s records and governance practices.

The CAC, after its investigation, discovered serial violations of both the NYCN Constitution and the provisions of the Companies and Allied Matters Act (CAMA) 2020, specifically Sections 833 and 834. As a result, the Commission has de-recognized all existing claims to leadership, trusteeship, and management within the organization.

The Ministry explained that the action was taken in line with Sections 8(1)(c) and 8(1)(d) of CAMA 2020, granting the CAC authority to intervene in the affairs of organizations where serious governance lapses are found.

It added that the decision followed a comprehensive investigation into the NYCN, which has been embroiled in a leadership crisis for over 18 years.

To ensure stability and restore order, the Corporate Affairs Commission has constituted an Interim Management Committee (IMC) to oversee the council’s affairs for one year, effective October 6, 2025.

The Federal Ministry of Youth Development appealed to all stakeholders to cooperate with the Interim Management Committee as part of ongoing efforts to restore unity, legitimacy, and institutional integrity to the NYCN.
