EDUCATION: Taraba State University Suspends All Student Associations Over Indiscipline, Insubordination.

By Our Correspondent, Jalingo

The management of Taraba State University, Jalingo, has announced the immediate suspension of all student associations, unions, clubs, and societies operating within the institution.

This was contained in a circular signed by the Registrar, Dr. Joseph U. Bibinu, and dated October 17, 2025.

According to the circular, the decision followed the university management’s concern over what it described as a “growing wave of indiscipline, defiance, and outright insubordination” exhibited by some student associations within the university.

The statement read in part:

> “Such conduct is unacceptable, and it undermines the peace, order, and academic integrity of the University. Consequently, the University Management hereby orders the immediate suspension of all student associations, unions, clubs, and societies operating within the University. This suspension takes immediate effect and shall remain in force until further notice.”

The circular further directed that no student group or individual is permitted to convene meetings, organize events, issue communications, or carry out any activity under the guise of a student association either within or outside the campus in the name of the university.

It warned that any violation of the directive would be regarded as gross misconduct and would attract severe disciplinary measures in line with the institution’s regulations.

Dr. Bibinu added that a new framework for responsible student representation will be developed and communicated to the university community in due course.

He urged all students and staff to ensure full compliance with the directive, stressing that the measure was aimed at restoring peace, order, and discipline on campus.
