The Taraba State Head of Civil Service, Dr. Hamidu Ahmed Kara, has dismissed claims that the government has labeled any employee a ghost worker.
In an interview, Dr. Kara clarified that only 2,411 workers are yet to receive their salaries due to non-verification, refuting widespread speculation that over 7,000 workers remain unpaid.
He urged any civil servant affected to promptly appear before the screening committee for verification to enable immediate payment. According to him, the committee has worked diligently to sanitize the payroll system in the interest of transparency and progress.
Dr. Kara noted that the screening exercise has been conducted in collaboration with representatives of organized labour in the state, expressing surprise at the decision by unions to embark on industrial action.
He reiterated the committee’s readiness for dialogue with labour leaders to find an amicable resolution to the issue.
