The Taraba State Police Command has officially welcomed CP Betty Enekpen Isokpan Otimenyin, psc, mnips, as its new Commissioner of Police. Her assumption of duty on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, marks her historic entry as the 32nd Commissioner to lead the Command and one of the few women to have held such a position in the state.
A seasoned police officer with over three decades of distinguished service, CP Betty hails from Edo State and holds a Bachelor of Arts in English Education from the former Bendel State University, now Delta State University, Abraka. She joined the Nigeria Police Force in 1992 as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police and trained at the Nigeria Police Academy Annex, Kaduna.
CP Betty’s career spans multiple states and strategic roles. She served in Bauchi and Plateau States, holding critical positions such as Divisional Crime Officer and Divisional Police Officer in various commands. She later served in Edo, Kebbi, Rivers, Imo, Lagos, Anambra, and Benin City in both operational and administrative capacities.
Notably, she was the first female Commissioner of Police in Edo State, and until her current deployment, she served as Commissioner of Police Mounted Troops at the Force Headquarters, Abuja.
Throughout her career, she has participated in several specialized training programs, both locally and internationally, including courses in leadership, detective operations, combat readiness, and internal security. Her international exposure includes workshops in Ankara, Turkey, and memberships in the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) and the International Association of Women Police (IAWP).
Upon resuming office, CP Betty pledged unwavering commitment to maintaining law and order, protecting lives and property, and strengthening community-police collaboration in line with the vision of the Inspector General of Police.
"I am here to serve and ensure that Taraba State remains peaceful, secure, and conducive for all residents," she stated, assuring citizens of her open-door policy.
